MAKE AI SOUND LIKE YOUR BRAND

Sick of wrestling with AI to get copy that’s only kinda on-brand? Yeah, us too. That’s why we build and train custom AI copybots that can properly write in your brand’s voice. (And not that crappy karaoke version of it that Claude and ChatGPT like to do.)

We’ll get it set it up on whatever AI tools your team already uses then test it on legit projects and briefs until it’s 100% ready. Then we’ll run a training session for your team on how to use it and get the most out of it.

"Just upload some examples and it'll learn your voice" they said.

In the before times, you’d hire a copywriter who already pretty much got your brand. Then you’d teach them about your brand voice and all of the nuances on top of that. But they pretty much came out of the box 90% ready to write for you.

We approach AI training the same way. Because while the tech bros will tell you AI can learn your voice from a few examples, it absolutely cannot. Most of the time, it writes like a copywriter who’s watched one too many Alex Hormozi videos: urgency, sneaky hard sells, problem-agitate-solution.

As a result, you get this wonky AI copy that sounds a bit like your brand but not like your brand, all at the same time. It’s on-brand but off-brand all at the same time and it’s an absolute mess to unpick it.

That’s why we don’t just document your voice. We train AI to think and write like a copywriter you’d actually hire first (mostly by downloading our brains into a .md file) then we document your voice in the most granular, nerdy detail we can so that AI can’t default to its beloved AI-isms.

How we document your voice so AI properly gets it

We’ve spent the last three years learning how to get AI to genuinely follow brand voice guidelines. It’s been A Process. We’ve got close so many times and then been hit with a “this isn’t just X, it’s Y” sentence and introduced our foreheads to our keyboards. We’ve said “PLEASE STOP THE EM-DASHES” more times than we can count. There are at least three new frown lines on Jack’s face since we started this.

But finally, after so many failed attempts, we’ve cracked it. By breaking your voice down into a language system and setting it up according to how AI thinks and approaches jobs, we’ve managed to get AI writing and thinking like brands across all kinds of briefs, from landing pages to emails to social posts to just kicking ideas around.

TRANSLATING YOUR VOICE SO AI GETS IT

AI RESEARCH | LINGUISTICS

Most brand voice documents were written for humans with taste and lived experience. In fact, the best AI documents we’ve ever seen rely on that subjectivity and wiggle room because that’s where the good stuff (like creativity and humour) comes from. But give AI that same wiggle room and subjectivity and you end up with “This isn’t just a product. It’s a lifestyle.” UGH. That’s why we document your voice in a way that translates them into rules and guidelines that a large language model needs to write copy in your voice without running back into the arms of its beloved AI-isms.

  • Break your voice into its linguistic building blocks: register, stance, rhythm and vocabulary
  • Split it across eight in-depth documents that break down every nuance of your voice
  • Teach AI the thinking behind every rule so that it can adapt as your brand grows
  • Turn your voice into a repeatable system that AI can use in different situations
  • Annotate good, bad and almost-right examples to help AI dial in your voice

TURNING AI INTO YOUR 24/7 COPYWRITER

Custom copywriter skill | Taste calibration

In the before times, the first step to getting somebody to write in your brand voice was to hire a copywriter with the right instincts and approach first. They’d know when to make a joke and when to sell. They’d know not to use hard sell tactics. They’d write with personality and character. Then, you’d train them to adapt their instincts to your own voice. We do exactly the same thing with AI. The first step (before we even document a word of your voice) is to teach AI how to think, write and ideate like a copywriter you’d want to hire, then we layer voice on top of that.

  • Custom copywriter skill .md written for your brand
  • Teach AI to approach a brief before it even writes a word
  • Teach AI which copywriter techniques to use and which are no bueno
  • Give AI a sense of taste on what good copy looks like
  • Train AI on how to write for your category and industry
  • Train out the instinct towards hard sell tactics and AI-isms

TRAINING YOUR AI COPYWRITER ON REAL BRIEFS

TRAINING & ITERATION | FEEDBACK FROM COPYWRITERS

Even the most robust documentation needs testing before AI can use it reliably. That’s why we put your copybot through its paces on real briefs (product pages, emails, social, whatever else you need) then mark up where it’s going wrong or just slightly not-quite-right. We then feed every note and annotation back into your documentation until every brief that comes back sounds like something your brand would say.

  • Output marked up by professional copywriters
  • Tested on real-life briefs
  • Constant feedback loop to dial in your voice
  • Train AI on fringe cases, not just obvious copywriting use cases

Beachbum operate in a crowded category where every brand says the same thing.
